WORDS BY ANT SIERRA Well congratulations to Disney+ for testing the patience of their subscribers. I do hope the hour delay didn’t sour the taste of wrestling fans for the platform. Here’s to wishing it delivers next time. Admittedly we had to scramble but you guys know how much I love the Kayfabe Café community, so you can always guarantee that the notorious one finds a way to deliver. Though it would be a huge help if y’all can support us on Gank soon so we can give you guys a better experience (without scrambling).
Nonetheless, Survivor Series: War Games was a relative breath of fresh air for the thanksgiving tradition, mainly because of the format. It delivered more so than expected in terms of the drama, without having to rely on the shock value of high spot after high spot— which in my opinion is the true strength of WWE. However, despite an across the board excellent showing, there’s still a flop— one dud away from a great show. WORDS BY ANT SIERRA The idea of competition is intrinsic to every industry with two or more players— it’s part of human nature to aspire to be the best in one's chosen field of interest. Honestly speaking, if you’re someone who does not strive for that, regardless of whatever lifestyle/resource handicap you have, then do expect to stagnate or outright fail in whatever it is that you’re doing. I’m pretty confident to say that having financial wealth does not mean a better overall product, it just means that the well-off business is better in hiding their mediocrity under bright lights, and other bells and whistles.
WORDS BY ANT SIERRA I’m finding it hard to put into words my actual reaction to AEW Full Gear 2022. In typical old man fashion, I honestly felt tired mid-way through although I don’t see it as an excuse not to talk about this while the emotions are still fresh. The show in my honest opinion felt dragging at times (although I do feel that way most of the time when it comes to the pacing of a majority of AEW matches), however it’s worth sitting through all of the bells and whistles for a satisfying payoff— for the most part.
In order to keep this short, I’d just rather focus on the broader thematics that I’ve noticed in the event. We all know every single wrestling blogger is going to milk the hell out of this event for their ‘reviews’ anyway, so I’d rather have everyone browse through these thoughts than sit through me blabbering about stuff, trying to sound smart. WORDS BY ANT SIERRA I apologize in advance if this sounds like I’m dragging you deep into a rabbit hole, but hey, you’re midway through this sentence so might as well continue, right?
Okay hear me out: Bryan Danielson is going to be the LAST ROH World Champion. Crazy, right? I mean there are still guys like Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia to restructure the new ROH around so why not have one of them carry the company towards the much anticipated revamped promotion? Simple answer— there’s not going to be a revamped Ring of Honor. I mean, I highly doubt it’s going to happen at all. Let me explain. WORDS BY ANT SIERRA Admittedly speaking I’m not that much of a stereotypical esports fan. I don’t play Genshin Impact, Valorant, etc. mainly because my hardware and attention span is a little bit selective when it comes to the things I play. However, I’m a big fan of tech in a more practical sense compared to other people who are a tad bit too technical especially when it comes to specific components— so I’ve always been fascinated about the new innovations in tech presented in conventions like ESGS and how the common man can maximize the new releases as part of their daily drivers.
Part of me wished I could have attended the event for that reason alone. WORDS BY LINUS JOSHUA SANTOS Hello there, reader. I see you’re currently checking out this article. This will be a 2-part series where we share our experiences from being recognized as legit content creators to attending the convention. This article will be about my personal experience attending the 3-day esports and gaming event. To be blatantly honest, I’m still processing things. It’s still surreal that Kayfabe Café, a pro-wrestling content creating media, is recognized as content creators not just for the local and regional wrestling scene, but now in the local gaming community as well.
